 Executive Assistant 

 Part-time/Year-round

Primary Responsibilities:
Provide friendly and welcoming presence on the phone and throughout the museum. Provide administrative support for the Executive Director and Deputy Executive Director (Executive Team) and the Board of Trustees.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
· Answer multi-line switchboard – transfer calls to appropriate individuals. Provide basic information to callers about the Museum’s operating hours, directions, exhibits and events.
· Schedule and organize meetings.
· Perform clerical duties including: faxing, filing, photocopying, opening incoming mail, and preparing outgoing mail. Arrange conference calls.
· Prepare and finalize Executive Team’s correspondence and other documents.
· Take minutes at meetings as requested by Executive Team. Prepare and distribute minutes.
· Arrange travel schedule and reservations for Executive Team.
· Prepare presentations and collateral material for Board meetings, Committee meetings, and Staff meetings.
· Screen correspondence and telephone calls.
· Procure office supplies as needed.
· Provide project and event support as needed.
· Greet and receive the Executive Team’s guests.

Qualifications:
· Minimum 3+ years’ relevant experience required, preferably in a non-profit organization. Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required.
· Requires comfortable working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Outlook.
· Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
· Must be highly organized and detail oriented.
· Comfortable working in a collaborative team environment.
· Flexible. Able to multi-task and prioritize well without close supervision.
· Must consistently demonstrate a professional, diplomatic, positive attitude with all people. Must possess the ability to communicate effectively with people of all ages and backgrounds as well as with people at all levels of the organization.
· Some flexibility with schedule is required, as attendance at events during the evening or on weekends is occasionally needed in this position.
· A valid drivers’ license is required.
· Must be able to work with confidential information and exercise discretion and judgment in all matters.
· Must also possess an established track record that demonstrates superior customer service skills, a “can-do” attitude, and a sense of urgency in getting the job done without sacrificing quality or attention to detail.
 

Paid Horticulture Intern Position


Description: Horticultural Department:

Join our green team and explore three centuries of gardening. As part of
Plimoth Plantation's Horticulture Department you will have an opportunity to
learn about and help maintain 17th century herbal gardens, a 1920's formal
garden and several modern perennial gardens. You will also help to propagate
native and heirloom flowers, herbs an vegetables in the greenhouse and
assist with the annual plant sale. Research projects are available to suit
the individual's interests.

Requirements: Qualifications include a willingness to learn new skills and
to work long hours outdoors in all weather conditions. Candidates must be
studying a relative field such as agriculture or horticulture.

This position is full-time 40 hours per week for 8 weeks. The salary is
$1,350.00 for the duration of the internship. This is an immediate opening.

 Bosun/ Ship's Rigger


Department: Maritime Artisans
Reports to: Maritime Artisans Manager
FLSA Status: Exempt
Supervises: Volunteers, Interpreters when working with Maritime Artisans, and other artisans
in department as directed by the manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:
· Develop and execute work schedules associated with the maintenance of rigging for Mayflower II and other water craft owned by Plimoth Plantation.
· Plan for and purchase materials relating to the rigging of Mayflower II and other craft.
· Responsible for the fabrication, overhaul, and maintenance of sails, and rigging for Mayflower II and other watercraft.
· Responsible for maintenance and overhaul of moorings and other dock lines for all Plantation owned vessels.
· Assists with moving Mayflower II while sailing or towing the ship to dry-dock.
· Work with carpenters performing maintenance and restoration work on Mayflower II.
· Work with and supervise the interpretive staff when performing period maintenance or repairs to the rigging of Mayflower II or other 17th century water craft
· Research products, tools, practices and techniques of the late 16th and early 17th century riggers and rigging.
· May work in costume aboard Mayflower II while performing some aspects of maintenance and repair work.
· Provide friendly and welcoming presence in all public spaces within the museum.
· Other work as assigned by the manager

Qualification Requirements:
· Must have a valid driver's license
· Must work effectively with volunteers and interns
· Must be able to work independently.

Education and/or experience:
· Must have 3-4 years experience as a rigger or bosun in ship maintenance and repair or deck hand in sail or merchant marine.
· Competence in small boat handling with sails, oars or power.
· Working knowledge of line handling and boson's work, including paints oils, marine sealant and canvas work.
· Must have extensive knowledge and experience with block and tackle, and moving heavy loads.
· Other desirable areas of experience include mechanics, plumbing, and electrical.

Reasoning Ability:
· Ability to interpret written and oral instructions and follow directions
· Ability to lead and direct others.

Physical Ability:
· Employee will be required to climb to a height of 100 feet and work in the ship's rigging as well as work at the extremities of the yards.
· Employee will be required to work in the rigging in temperatures ranging from hot summer months to extreme cold winter months.
· Employee will be required to lift 80-100 pounds
· Employee will be required to perform repetitive physical activities

Work Environment:
· There are often loud noises in the work area.
· There are unpleasant odors in the work area.
· There are toxic substances in the work place, which the employee will be required to handle.
· Employee will come in contact with chemicals, oils, paints and other compounds used in the preservation of rope and wood.
